My son wanted this for 15 years to replace the headset microphone on a stand, and my headphones PX100 Senheisser. He likes to play Modern Warfare 2 on the PC and was convinced that the turtle beach ear force x11 is improvement over the current regime. Read reviews and save money and buy ‘ear. Unfortunately, Turtle Beach headsets are terrible and he was very sorry. There is a constant hissing sound coming from headphones. I’m 49 and I hurt – my son is 15 years, with more sensitive Hearing is unbearable and can not be more than ten minutes. I tried to decrease the volume controller on the headphones small and increase the volume on your computer, making it a little “better, but still audible wheezing. My guess is the lack of head protection during a short-line and headphones, and this white noise is the result. I can not comment on whether the same thing happened on the Xbox, but we have tried on two PCs, and we had to whistle the same problem. The sound quality was very bad – it was hard, brittle and lacking bass. I think people who buy, do not want to musicality, but are more interested in hearing where the clips or the next steps, but the quality of sound uncomfortable to use them for any length of unpleasant experiences. My advice – do not buy it!

Great Headset Saved my Relationship

This headset saved my relationship, and kept me playing my xbox360 MW2. You see my girlfriend would get really upset at me for playing Modern Warfare 2 online. The gun shots and the harriers flying over would literately drive her crazy. So i finally sucked it up and bought this headset. She thinks it is the greatest thing i have purchased in a long time. 

Plus – the ear pieces are comfortable, they don’t squeeze even my huge head, the mic is firm and is easily movable, having a mute button, it connects right to my receiver (i just purchased a 1/4′ headphone jack that has a 1/8′ female connector into my receiver. I am getting (what sounds like) Dolby digital surround sound in my head phones (once again i am using a headset plug into my receiver not the red/white connectors), the audio changes from left to right and i can hear things i could never hear before. The ability to turn the chat volume up and down is also a plus. My voice sounds much better than it did with my old headsets, and i feel much more into the games. I have done much better in MW2 since getting the headset. 

Cons – Since im not using the red and white connectors and i am using a headset port on my receiver i can not say that all headsets have this problem but i do get some feed back that i can hear distinctly when there is no audio present. i have a feeling it is from the headset jack that i purchased and not the headset itself. Also there is feed back if you are charging your controller while you play (and the mic cable is plugged into your controller). 

If you are in my shoes and you are using the HDMI cable from your xbox to a receiver, and you purchased this headset check to see if your receiver has a HEADSET (most do)plug. If its like mine and has a 1/4′ plug then you can purchase a 1/4″Male to 1/8″ female at radio shack for 6 bucks. I would recommend the stereo one instead of the mono plug so you can get Dolby surround in your headphones (it will let you know where bullets are coming from, and you can hear people behind you as well). It will have you from purchasing the crappy Microsoft adapter cable, and will keep you from taking apart your AV cable that came with your box.

Turtle Beach X11

After going through maybe 5 Xbox wired headsets and 1 wireless headset, I decided to look for something that would last longer and work better. I was blown away by this mic, for only more dollars than the wireless headset I previously owned, this was a huge step forward. The reviews that say that the hissing is annoying is true, there is hissing, but ince audio starts coming through the mic, you will not notice it. And for those who are turned off by the wired characteristic of it, it has like a 20 foot wire, which is pretty much wireless unless you like going for a mile jog around the park a block away while playing your game (sounds pretty intense to me…) I plugged it in, went to the best soundtrack game I could find and the Battlefield 1943 theme song came through with clarity I hadn’t ever heard out of my TV before. Explosions will scare the [...] out of you and gunshots will have the bass that you would expect from a real one. Overall, 5/5 from me, though these are my first turtle beaches, but I have used other friends’ X4′s and this compares if not competes with those. Big Fleck, out.

My Experience

First of all, I got this X11 headset to play better at Modern Warfare 2. I wanted something that would help me get an edge and help my KD. 
The headset is comfortable to wear and feels light on my head. The only issue I have with it is that sometimes when I play, there is an echo of whatever I say during the game. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced that, but I have. 

I picked this headset because it got good reviews here on Amazon and it was relatively inexpensive for me being a college student. I Couldn’t afford the wireless RF ones, but I didn’t think spending 0 or whatever they cost on a gaming headset could be justified. Plus, you have to charge that whereas the X11 ones you do not. The cord that comes with it does not bother me as I play close to the tv anyway. 
Overall, I recommend these headphones. However, Turtle Beach may be getting a call from me soon about that echoing I hear.

You need to read the instructions!!

I bought these after a lot of debate. I wanted to be able to play late at night and not disturb anyone else in the house. I read a lot of the reviews and the most constant problem that I read was that you got a loud cracking and popping sound now and then. I decided to try my luck. Well wouldn’t you know it, sure enough I was getting that loud popping sound also. Man was I pissed. I went to turtle beach website, not really any help. So I was packing it back up to send back and came across the instructions (no one ever reads those anyway). In them it says that if you get this cracking and popping sound to remove the RF receiver away from anything electrical. I had it sitting on top of my 360 right next to my 50 inch plasma. Well the cord on the receiver is very long. I moved it about 2 feet away from those and guess what… no more popping sound, not once. These are totally worth every penny. The sounds you can hear are amazing! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I have been a gamer for awhile now and have used the stock headset that comes with the xbox 360. I had started to hear about these headsets from turtle beach, so I went online and did some research. I liked what I saw so I went shopping and found a good price at amazon.com. Once I got them I took them out of the box and started to use them with Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 and . . . . HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!! These things are completely awesome!!!! They totally immerse you in the gaming experience!! They give you a surround sound stereo experience for a fraction of the price! They are amplified with a bass boost option so you can almost feel the explosions and gunfire that happen. Also, with the RF technology, they are very accurate with sound production, so you can pick up the footsteps of an enemy coming up behind you almost 300% better than with the stock headset that comes with the xbox 360. I am very pleased with this product from turtle beach, and would recommend it to any one looking to enhance their gaming experience!!:)

Just outstanding! I love, just love the Ear Force X31 Digital RF Wireless Game Audio + Xbox Live Chat, by Turtle Beach! Especially with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Battelfield Bad Company 2 or with watchin’ movies with Zune or Netflix on my Xbox 360! It also is great with Xbox Live Chat, because you can hear yourself. That is good if you talk or breath too LOUD (some friends should take note). I wish this was out 2 years ago. It would have probably saved my marriage. Definitely get this if you are married with a kid and you stay up late and you live in a medium to small (1300sq ft or less) home or apt.. Even if I lived in a large home you can get up and walk around and not miss a moment of chatin’ with friends on Xbox Live. I could go around corners and still get reception. One thing though, it does use 2 AAA batteries in the headphones so buy a recharger, which are more common, better, and cheapier today. Especially on Amazon.com. WOW!!!!

When I initially bought this headset, I had high expectations for it. An XBL friend of mine had received a set from her husband, and she was obviously thrilled with them. 

I am a big time audio enthusiast, and I have used many different kinds of headphones and other audio accessories. I have to say that the audio quality that this headset produces is amazing for it’s weight and for the fact that it is wireless. I have two pairs of studio-quality headphones, one is an old pair of Realistic Nova Pro’s (I know, not exactly studio quality, but pretty close), and a still kind of old RCA’s that I am unsure of the model. This headset now replaces both of them, both for it’s wireless and the fact that it flat out sounds better. 

As for the XBL chat, everything comes through crystal clear. The chat boost feature works better than I expected. With every other headset I’ve used, I had to have the chat volume maxed, but I have it set at a little less than three quarters on my X31, and I can hear everyone clearly. 

As for cons, I can’t find a single one. I have it hooked up to the audio out on my TV, which I also use as the monitor for my computer. My headphone jack to my computer is also hooked up to the TV, so I can use my X31 or my stereo (also hooked up to the output on the TV) or both with the computer. So I can use my stereo, TV, headset or any combination of the three for audio on whatever I can find a way to hook up to my TV. And as far as FPS gaming… my KDR on Halo 3 jumped from an overall of .79 to .97. Enough said.

Turtle Beach Wireless Review – Does the Ear Force X31 Wireless Headset Audio Stand Up to the Hype?

The in-store selection of quality wireless headset audio for console gaming systems is usually amazingly low. And since most of us probably cannot afford the option of not paying this months electric bill to purchase an Astro A30 or some Tritton gaming headgear; we must seek “more affordable” alternatives for a digital wireless gaming headset. Turtle Beach wireless headset has been a standout in this market for awhile now, primarily because they provide high quality enhanced gaming headsets at very affordable prices. In this Turtle Beach headset review we examine the Ear Force X31s; an excellent choice for gamers on a budget. The call of wireless game audio had appealed to me for some time since my wife tripped over the X11s cable several times (when my son was not “borrowing” them). I finally purchased this headset when I found them at a bargain price online, and man I am really glad I did! This digital wireless headset features:

It took me about 7-8 minutes to hook up the digital wireless RF transmitter (note that when using HDMI video, the Xbox HD AV cable MUST be used). When they first arrived I played Gears of War2 in horde mode…immediately the sound quality blew me away. I could hear a boomer from across the map in courtyard, and the explosions were so intense I could feel them!Switch to Modern Warfare 2…I could not only hear the chamber sliding on my opponents intervention sniper rifle; I could hear him sneaking up on me from much farther away. And the online chat sounds much better than the Microsoft chat mikes. It is pretty much a given that the Ear Force X31 wireless headphones will help you step up your game. But there are 2 things which annoyed me a little also:

Bass-Boost not very effective-could use a lot more bass for this feature to make any sense
Inline chat mute switch really hard to find-have fun trying not to get killed while adjusting the mute/volume
Overall sound quality still not quite as rich as wired headset technology

The headset itself is powered by 2 triple-A batteries which seem to last about 15-17 hours, but my rechargables last roughly 14 hours. Even with these few flaws, the Turtle Beach Ear Force X31 Wireless Gaming Headset really stands out as an affordable; high quality pro gaming accessory. If you have been thinking about stepping up your game with a wireless headset but could not afford it, the Ear Force X31s are now more affordable than ever.
