Wonderful product!!,
I bought this product in January 2008 after reading the online reviews and I absolutely love it!! My husband is thrilled that I’m now watching TV with him again instead of retreating to the study to read, catch up on email, etc. I recently had my 84 yr old mother stay with us for a few weeks. She wears two hi-tech hearing aids that can’t be very effective as she continues to blast the TV. When I placed the headphones on her head, her eyes lit up and she said, “Where did you get these? They’re wonderful!” I’m now ordering her a set so that she too can enjoy TV.

|BEST PRODUCT I’VE FOUND,
I am stunned by the negative reviews on this product. We previously had TV Ears; and although the product is good, the ear buds hurt, thus my husband refused to use them; and I continued to listen to a very loud T.V. These ear phones are very light weight, very comfortable, and the audio, tone, volume, etc. are excellent and the audio is stereo. We both suffer from not being able to always distinguish consonants or simply not clearly hearing what is said, which is not a curable problem (there is a medical term for this); and with these ear phones we are both usually able to hear everything that is said. We can even understand some of the rap on T.V. now..lol. I am ordering another set for our lake home. As with any infrared product, you have to be facing the connecting unit; and of course the ear phones take batteries .. don’t all things non-electrical, as in cordless, need batteries??? (To the guy who was stunned that they also had to have batteries which were “not” included .. batteries are seldom included in things we buy.) I am 68 and my husband is 70. On a scale of 1-10, these are a 10+.

|These do not work with a treadmill!,
I wish I would have known that these headphones do not work with a treadmill. I was also told they do not work close to a computer due to interferance. Now I have headphones that I don’t need due to the return policy being that if you open them you can’t return them! I’m sure they are fine for regular tv watchers. Maybe I will give them to my grandma for her birthday since I can’t use them.

|It works as promised and does it well.,
I’ve used this now for a week in two rooms, and it works as promised. It saves me from having to use multiple remotes. The only downside is that adds pop up briefly in pop-up windows that block the bottom of the display, which makes it hard to see which remote keypad is displayed (TV,cable box, receiver, or DVD). It has been worth the money! It’s nice that it allows you to set up configurations for each room separately. Hope that future software upgrades allow access to more of the customized features of each device such as selecting surround sound options on your receiver while watching TV. Currently just selects the default. Highly recommended.

|Not Very Functional,
First off, for those who are claiming there’s a “hidden charge”, there actually isn’t. There’s two apps available in the App Store. You need to pick the “Two-in-a-box” app. This one is already unlocked.
Having said that, I’m unimpressed.
I figured for $19.50 (a price which was half that just a few days later when I came to write this review), I’d try this on my iPad to replace my bricked Harmony, the victim of cat barf (who knew that’s all it would take). I plugged the IR into the headset jack, turned the volume up full per the instructions, and entered my TV, receiver box, and amplifier codes. Everything turned on and off perfectly.
The problem is the product limitation. You can turn on and off these things but you can’t, say, set a macro to turn on and off several items at once to perform a single function (let alone set the input). Even doing things manually doesn’t work…the amplifier controls are limited to power and an ‘input’ button that doesn’t actually do anything but select your existing input you’re already using.
The guide functionality is decent enough…kind of nice to just select a program and go to it…but even there I found it would show something as being watched that wasn’t. It didn’t always relate to what was actually on the screen.
Unless you have a very basic setup and only need very VERY basic functionality, look elsewhere.

|The best remote is also the cheapest,
Why spend a fortune on a fancy remote like the highly rated Logitech Harmony, when you already own a much more sophisticated device? The My TV Remote doohickey plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone or iPod touch and, with the help of a free app, allows you to remote control all your devices.
The infrared code database is extremely complete and is likely to know about your equipment.
Setting up your system is quick and easy, and once you’ve done that you can not only control all your devices using well designed screens, but also access program guide information.
The emitter is quite powerful and can control all devices from across the room.
The best part is of course that the remote application is under development and benefits from regular updates adding great features — and it’s free!
The biggest problem I have with the My TV Remote is that it sticks out of the iPhone and I’m afraid to break it off, although it looks very well made and sturdy. Then again, you get two in the box for only $20, so it’s quite a bargain.
Bottom line, you can’t beat the price to usefulness ratio. The app is very well done and sees regular updates, the device itself is well made, and the price extremely reasonable. Very highly recommended.
